The freedoms you speak of and enjoy are what makes the whole thing so ironic, so many died here in order to win freedom from political oppression, only to find that their freedom to live in peace has been eroded in the process... but where there is life, there is hope!

Oswegan,
thanks for your interest, and the link.Suzi-khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00338300048993883066noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34333289.post-71226581848900638482007-11-04T21:53:00.000+02:002007-11-04T21:53:00.000+02:00Beautiful pictures of your country. I have never visited but my best friend from childhood was an exchange student there and her tales of the spirit of the people and the beauty of the landscape stayed with me. I have another blogging pal RobC, Rmblings from a Blue Dot, who lives in South Africa in the central part of the country and from him I've learned much.

I take my freedoms and safety here for granted. Yes I'm a federal law enforcement person, and I'm trained and proficient in firearm use.. . but I still live in a town where many don't lock our doors and the only crimes are petty theft or vandalism. I bless each day I have this type of place to lay my head.LBJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17795791180696109276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34333289.post-70204909541420726492007-11-04T17:23:00.000+02:002007-11-04T17:23:00.000+02:00What a great post suzi, and thanks so much for all...What a great post suzi, and thanks so much for all of the quotes and the link.

You have done an excellent job describing the situation there in this post and your many others on the topic.

It sounds very much like a systemic problem that touches everyone in deep ways. I'm not sure I can offer much of an opinion regarding a solution.

Africa seems like a wonderful place otherwise, it is unfortunate that it is such a dangerous environment at the same time.

I will add a link to you from my site.

Thanks again,

~OsweganOsweganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01490409111938079094noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34333289.post-5498241753070053682007-11-03T00:52:00.000+02:002007-11-03T00:52:00.000+02:00Sue I can only repeat what Janet and Ruth have sai...Sue I can only repeat what Janet and Ruth have said before me.
I had no idea it was that violent a society.
Thank you for the email by the way, and I understand why you feel as you do, after that experience I would be the same..!
hugs
xxSheilahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06731396546695910306noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34333289.post-78313376589354803392007-11-02T21:04:00.000+02:002007-11-02T21:04:00.000+02:00Such an interesting post.
