Ooops, forgot to post the new paintings....
These donkeys were taking a rest from pulling their cart, standing in dappled shade.
Believe it or not these are white chrysanthemums, but when backlit by strong sunlight, they went a shadowy purple which appealed to me.....
There is an exhibition on at the moment at a local gallery, called "Poetry to Art". This is inspired by the poem "lonely Tree" by Wilfred Gibson

I liked the chrysanths but I LOVED The Lonely Tree - really atmospheric and different palette to what Hugh would use for Scottish colours.
Loved the donkeys and the flowers but that landscape is fantastic...very special
Wonderful...I especally like the Lonely Tree.
thanks, I didn't have the words of the poem with me yesterday, it goes
"Though I love the forests deep and wide,
The lonely tree on the bare hillside,
The brave wind bitten lonely tree,
is rooted in the heart of me."
I love "The Lonely Tree"....the colors are beautiful and what a sense of movement I got from the tree and the clouds.
That Lonely Tree....you can sure see which way the wind blows around there! ( fabulous!!! )
