Summer Smiles

Long Summer Days, sun up at 4.30am, sets around 8pm, and in between we experience a whole range of conditions, today it was cold, followed by howling gale force winds, then it got hot and humid, now it is just perfect.

But summer is the time for outdoor living, for resting on a park bench and enjoying the breeze, or having a family meal under the dappled shade on the patio. It is years since I have had the freedom to enjoy it.

For as long as I can remember, this has been the time of the year when things at work were going crazy, the final frantic rush to get Interior Design jobs completed by Christmas, suppliers running out of fabrics, deliveries delayed, builders passing deadlines, and having to pull all the loose ends together while keeping ranting clients happy..... this year is different. And I am LOVING it!!

I can't imagine what it would have been like trying to cope with Max's heart attack or surgery, and look after him as he recovers, if I was still running the business. This year, I am free to spend as much time as we need to deal with all this, and still paint in between. And because rest is a big part of the process, we are both able to recharge our batteries in these great surroundings. ..... (((((happy sigh))))))

Hi... saw you're latest comment on Oswegan and wondered about Suzy K... there was a music with that name... that I can tell.
I loved you´re blog for two reasons: it's good and it's... good.
If you want to see a modest blog, I would be glad you visited mine NOTASECRETBLOG.
By the way, I've never been at Porth Elizabeth but lived for 11 years in Pretoria (Tswahane now?).

hi Q, thanks for the visit. I think the song you may be thinking of was Suzi-Q by Creedence Clearwater Revival, written about Suzi Quattro. Ahh Pretoria, home of the best Jacarandas... and the worst criminals!! :)

This is the way to relax, what a lovely spot. All I see outside my window is snow, snow and more snow..!
Glad Max is on the mend, and you are able to be there for him. It makes a huge dufference, not to have that added stress of deadlinrs doesn't it. Enjoy each other's company, and paint..!
hugs

Isn't it wonderful that you decided to become a full-time artist when you did! Now you can enjoy so many things including leisure time to spend with Max. The patio looks so inviting. Enjoy all your free time and good weather. It was 26ºF here last night!

Glad you're enjoying the summer! I was interested in your daylight hours - currently our sun is rising at 5.40am and setting at 9.05pm, so it's just over an hour later than where you are!

It sounds very nice for you. I am glad to hear you have the time to be with Max and to enjoy the summer.

As far as you having summer, and me having winter, well, I can't say I'm too happy about that.

I'll get back to you about it in six months when my spirits are higher, and the days are longer.

Shirley that's interesting about the time, I wonder if it because South Africa is almost 2 zones wide, but sticks to one time for convenience, so some inaccuracy occurs in certain parts?

Don't feel bad, you guys in the Northern Hemisphere, your turn will come for posting pix of blue skies and flowers, while we have cold winter rains and gale force winds!
