HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hi, May 2007 be a great, happy, prosperous, meaningful, creative, fulfilling one for all of us! (And again, happy birthday for yesterday, #1. I hope it was a good 1.)

I semi decided to do a photo a day this year, I am still thinking about how I want to tackle it, because there are a couple of issues I need to resolve...........

1. A daily photo is probably easy most days, but not EVERY day. So that makes it a good discipline, but the question is, since discipline sucks, do I want to do that!?

2. I can't always go online every day, Blogger is temperamental about uploading and I don't always have time to keep trying, and sometimes work is just too crazy to give me time to eat or breathe, never mind blog, so I am hesitant to commit to daily posts. A compromise would be to take daily photos, but post in clumps, with the dates on them, when possible, but hopefully at least weekly.

3. The 365 task means that it is 1 real time photo each day, what will not be easy is being restricted to selecting just 1 to show each day, when in the right situation, given the delights of digital, I can go a LITTLE overboard. (Like yesterday when we took something like 612 shots in a few hours, it is SOOOO hard to whittle away the bad ones and choose just a few good ones to keep.) So if it has to be a real time one each day there are stacks of awesome ones rattling around that would be great to share, but will be wasted. So I'm considering doing 2 a day, 1 real time and 1 from the files (at least 1!). Because I tend to think in series when I photograph, I could even consider doing a daily or weekly group of pix, it would be fun putting them together.

4. As I mentioned in the previous post, Max and I have wanted to do a regular shot of the same subject to show changes over a year. I was considering taking a shot from the kitchen window or door once a week, and calling the series "Doo doo doo, looking out my backdoor" (with apologies to Credence Clearwater Revival!). What would make it work well was if we did it at the same time each day, fitting in sometime between the time the sun rises or sets in summer, and in winter, to show up the seasonal changes well, but we lead such unscheduled. unstructured lives that I know that is WAY too much discipline for me to commit to! Sometimes we leave home for work by 5 or 6 am and only get back after 7pm!

SO....... given all that, how about this..... my New Years Resolution is to TRY and stick to the discipline of AT LEAST 1 real time photo, and 1 "from my files" photo, which will be taken and labelled daily, but may be posted in bunches every few days, as well as intermittent group pictures and a weekly "looking out my backdoor" shot. I think it is safe for you to assume that, even if there are the odd gaps in this, there will be no shortage of photos to see around here!

WHEW! So after all that raging internal debate, let's get this New Year Kicked off with a bang...

Sorry I didn't get by here sooner. I love that you're joining in on the photo thing. I have such a dinky little camera my photos will mostly be pretty boring but I thought it would challenge me to look at things with a different eye. I like your ideas and the photos today are beautiful. Love the canna leaves.
