a walk down memory lane

First, the latest update on Croick Cottage (formerly known as the nameless one, but now happily basking in the acceptance that comes from having a name!)

The pillars are done (caps on top to come later when I get my act together and buy them). So while they set and harden, the mess moves inside....

... and the formerly lemon yellow bathroom has taken on a "cement" shade....

And now to memory lane.....

I have been having such fun over the last few days, going through boxes of old photos for the African Images thing. In the course of it, I found some old photos of some of our pets, and thought you may like to meet them....

Our very first pet was Smudgie, here she is attempting to impersonate a hell's angel.

Our son had a pair of large Leopard Tortoises when he was about 11, Annie and Andrew, and I had a delightful blue point Siamese kitten called Clawed. He was the love of my life, but the love of HIS life was Annie, he adored climbing onto her shell and riding around on her back!

We then got a little chocolate point called Zacheus Marmaduke, which was a big name for such a tiny cat. Here is Zack meeting himself in the mirror for the first time....

Another of the cats was Gus, who loved sleeping on his back. He was well endowed in the fangs department, which made him look a bit goofy...

This was his first meeting with Samantha, who was highly intellegent and opened doors by jumping up and hooking the handles.

And this is an extremely annoyed Felix, who was enjoying a snuggle on Max's lap, until Gypsey the puppy (of extremely mixed and strange heritage) decided to join in....

Then there is Tangy and her daughter Whiskey sharing their dinner. Tangy was given to me because she was a nightmare to ride, bucked, reared and generally went balistic, but was the sweetest natured gentle mare when in the paddock.

And Chippie the fox terrier investigating why Jenny is being so lazy. ( I have never known another horse who liked lying around as much as she did, at first I thought there was something wrong, but it was just her little foible.) In complete contrast to Tangy, she was delightful to ride, but mean and dangerous when loose in the paddock.
That's it for now, hope you enjoyed meeting them!

Finally, in yesterday's post, labelled by blogger as Sunday because that's when I saved the first draft , African Images #2, right near the bottom, at lighthouse no 17, I mentioned a wreck, well here is the promised photo, unearthed this morning.
