Eccentricity runs in the family

This morning my daughter, Karen walked around to our house, and arrived carrying a plastic shopping bag. (She of highly organised fame!) I thought nothing of it, I just assumed it was her lunch or something.

But a while later J arrived because he needed to get some money from her....and she hauled out the plastic bag. It turns out she was using it as a handbag.... "because any potential mugger would not think it was anything worthwhile".

We had a good laugh about it, (phrases like 'bag lady' were flying around!) but the clincher was when she explained in all sincerity that at least she had carefully selected a bag that colour coded with her outfit! By then J and I were howling with laughter, and she was mortified when I whipped out the camera and announced that I just HAD to share this with my blog friends!

It became even funnier, later on, when we needed to go to the shops, and she realised all she had with her was the famous bag.... we had to leave it in the car and put her money and phone in my handbag when we went into the supermarket!

This could become a whole new fashion statement. Funnily enough only yesterday I was telling one of my daughters she should cut her grass in her front garden...she said if they keep it long so the front of the house looks a mess potential burglars will think there is nothing worth stealing inside!

Hee hee, it is strangely comforting to know that this crime induced paranoia is not a peculiarly south African condition!
